Welcome to Cactus for Tortoises

Here you can get advice on which sorts your tortoise likes to eat, how to feed, and cultivation advice for the cacti.

We specialise in growing edible “prickly pear” cacti and succulents for tortoises, turtles and other reptiles

Why are succulents good for tortoises?

(Technically, all our plants are succulents - the cacti are the ones with spines)

Cacti and succulents grow naturally where tortoises come from, so in the wild they are an important part of your pet's diet.

In controlled amounts, cacti and succelents provide an important source of fibre, vitamins and minerals.

Due to their laxative qualities, offer cactus pads and succulents only once or twice a week as part of a diverse diet.

Plants we sell on this site have been grown organically - we do not use any chemical pesticides.

These succulent plants are to a tortoise, what ice cream is to a human - they love them!
